Play DrumDash in Your Browser

The fastest way to start drumming. Just open your browser and play.

1

Open the Game

Navigate to drumdash.com/play.html in any modern browser. DrumDash supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge.

Recommended: Use Chrome or Edge for the best WebAudio performance and lowest latency.

2

Import a Song

Click "Import Song" to load your own audio or MIDI file. DrumDash supports MP3, WAV, OGG, and MIDI files, plus CloneHero and Paradiddle chart formats. Its AI will analyze the track and generate a drum chart in seconds.

Find thousands of community-made charts from libraries like Enchor.us (CloneHero) and ParaDB (Paradiddle) — import them directly and start playing.

3

Choose Your Input Method

DrumDash adapts to whatever gear you have (or don't have):

  • Keyboard: Map drum pads to your computer keyboard keys
  • Mouse / Touchscreen: Click or tap the on-screen virtual pads
  • MIDI Controller: Plug in any USB-MIDI drum kit or pad controller

Paradiddle format songs also support MIDI, keyboard, and touch input (experimental). You can play along with a regular acoustic drum kit too — the game just won't count the hits since there's no microphone detection.

4

Connect a MIDI Drum Kit (Optional)

For the most authentic experience, connect your electronic drum kit via USB-MIDI:

  • Plug your drum module's USB-B or USB-C port into your computer
  • Ensure your module is set to MIDI mode (not audio interface mode)
  • DrumDash will auto-detect the device and map standard pads automatically
Note: Some modules (e.g., Roland TD series) have a "Vendor" and "Generic" USB mode. Select Generic USB-MIDI for broadest compatibility.
Android

Set Up DrumDash on Android

The native Android app delivers tighter MIDI integration and offline play. Scores are saved locally on your device.

1

Install the App

Download DrumDash from the Google Play Store. The app is free to install and includes the full song import and AI chart generation.

Requirements: Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later, 2 GB RAM recommended.

2

Connect Your Electronic Drum Kit via USB

For the lowest latency and most reliable connection, use a wired USB-MIDI setup:

  • Modern Android (USB-C): Use a USB-C OTG adapter + standard USB-B cable, or a direct USB-C to USB-B OTG cable
  • Older Android (Micro-USB): Use a Micro-USB OTG adapter + USB-B cable
  • Plug the USB-B end into your drum module and the other end into your phone/tablet
  • When prompted, tap Allow to grant DrumDash USB access
  • If a USB options menu appears in your notification shade, select MIDI
Important: Use a data-capable USB cable. Charge-only cables will not transmit MIDI data. Keep cables short and plug directly into the device—avoid USB hubs.
3

Connect Wirelessly via Bluetooth MIDI

If your drum module supports Bluetooth MIDI, you can go cable-free:

  1. Put your drum module into Bluetooth pairing mode
  2. On your Android device, open Settings → Bluetooth and pair with your module
  3. Open DrumDash and select "Continue with Bluetooth", then pick your module from the list
Tip: Bluetooth is convenient but adds slightly more latency than USB. Stay within 1–2 meters during pairing. If your kit doesn't appear, toggle Bluetooth off and on, then restart DrumDash.

Note: Some popular kits (like the Alesis Nitro Pro/Max) do not support Bluetooth MIDI and must use a USB connection.

Optimize Audio & Reduce Latency

A responsive feel makes all the difference. Here's how to keep lag to a minimum.

🔌 Use Wired Audio

Always use wired headphones or speakers. Bluetooth audio adds significant extra latency on top of any MIDI delay, making precise timing impossible.

⚡ Prefer USB Over Bluetooth

USB-MIDI delivers the lowest latency and most stable connection. Use Bluetooth MIDI only when mobility is essential.

🔋 Disable Battery Saver

On Android, turn off Battery Saver while playing. Background power restrictions can cause audio dropouts and inconsistent timing.

🎛️ Adjust Note & Input Latency

In DrumDash's App Settings, you can fine-tune note latency (when notes appear relative to the audio) and input latency (MIDI response timing). Tweak these until the feel is right for your setup.

📴 Close Background Apps

Shut down unnecessary apps to free up CPU and RAM. This keeps audio processing stable, especially on lower-end devices.

🔄 Keep Software Updated

Ensure your browser, Android OS, and drum module firmware are all on the latest versions. Manufacturers regularly release latency improvements.

Troubleshooting

Running into issues? Here are the most common fixes.

My drum kit isn't detected.
  • Verify you're using a data-capable USB cable, not a charge-only cable.
  • Try a different OTG adapter or USB port.
  • Unplug and reconnect, accepting any permission prompts.
  • Switch your module to Generic USB-MIDI mode if available.
  • Ensure the connection is MIDI, not audio. DrumDash requires MIDI signals to recognize hits.
Audio is delayed or glitchy.
  • Use wired headphones; avoid Bluetooth audio.
  • Open DrumDash's App Settings and adjust the note latency and input latency sliders until the timing feels right.
  • Close background apps and disable Battery Saver.
  • On web, try a different browser (Chrome and Edge typically perform best).
Bluetooth MIDI won't pair.
  • Confirm your drum module actually supports Bluetooth MIDI (not just Bluetooth audio).
  • Toggle Bluetooth off/on on your Android device and restart DrumDash.
  • Stay within 1–2 meters and clear any obstructions between devices.
  • Some modules need to be in pairing mode before opening DrumDash.
